NEWS: SOME PEOPLE LIKE “B-FUNK”

We don’t particularly like blowing our own trumpet here at Bedmo Disco HQ, but needs must. As you’re probably all aware by our constant postings on the subject, the “B-FUNK” EP by AWON and BEDMO DISCO will be hitting stores in less time than it takes to say “discombobulated”. OK, so perhaps a little longer, but it will be in some stores this week. Excitingly, rather a lot of people seem to like it, which makes us excited and rather chuffed.

So, who’s saying what? First of all, we’ve picked up a review from a blog called This Is Why We Dance. This is run by veteran dance music journalist, former IDJ mag Editor and all round good cheese Russell Deeks. Click here if you want to know what he has to say about “B-Funk”.

DJ reactions have also been very good. There are far too many to post here, so we’ve picked a few out:

Bonar Bradberry (PBR Streetgang, Asylum, We Love Space Ibiza) – “Best Bedmo Disco release yet! Some great sampling in there – proper chops. Gonna get loads of play from me this summer.”
Jerome Derradji (Still Music, Chicago) – “Really really like this release, excellent all round!
Red Rack’em (Bergerac/Smugglers Inn Radio) – “This is nice. Will play something on my show.”
Christophe (Futureboogie Recordings) – “Super ACE! This will be getting played at Space this weekend, thank you. 5/5”
Cosmo Vitelli – “Pure modern boogie. Like it.”
Diskjokke (Sunkissed, Oslo) – “Nice, grooving EP”
Damon Martin (Disco Bloodbath) – “Solid grooves”
Andy Ash (Boogie Originals/On The Prowl) – “LOVE “Startime”. All tracks are good though”
Cazbee (Mixed Blood Cuts) – “Nice EP…”
Cosmic Boogie (Boogie Originals) – “Illusion is great”
Drop Out Orchestra – “Boogie Down Bedmo is the one for us. What is it good for? Our sets! Love it.”
Martin Roche (Get Down Edits) – “Great EP! Really Feelin Illusion”
Andrew Clarke – “A very strong EP of boogie inspired cuts. My fave is Startime!”
Rob J (Main Stem) – “Cuckoo indeed……Startime for moi.”
Solid State (All Out War) – “Great release – congratulations on 5 years of Disco Madness – full support from ALL OUT WAR x”
Neil Scott (El Diablo’s Social Club) – “Great release. 5/5”
Havana Candy – “Some fine Clinton influenced business going on here, Boogie Down Dub is the one for me. Great Dj’ing track, top mid-tempo dirtyness!”
Chris Massey (Electric Elephant) – “Yup, am feeling every track on this release. Some great use of samples throughout and lovely sounding analogue basslines. Great release! 5/5”
Danielle Moore (Crazy P) – “Startime my fave-love the squelchiness of the bass line and the flecks of melody. Boogie Down Dub great too. Sure fire release”
Ste Hodge (Kat Records) – “Illusion sounds especially great…eerie pads ,squelchy bass and wicked grooves aplenty”
Billy Scurry (Ireland) – “Awesomeness!!! V strong EP, full support on all tracks!”
Frank Lihaug (Contra, Bergen, Norway) – “Startime – What a track! Love it :)”
Joe Morris (Polaroid) – “Strong package, thanks”
Murry Pretscherer (Radio Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand) – “Dunno if its Illusion or Boogie Down Dub as a favourite, but then what about Goodlovin? All killer, no filler.”

So there you go, lots of nice comments. Thanks to all those who like it and are playing it in their sets. If you’ve still not given it a whirl, check out all four tracks on the Soundcloud player below. You can also find out more about the release here >>
